10-Man Lobi Maul Yobe Stars As MFM Record First Away Win

Lobi Stars continued their march to win their first Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) title as they brushed aside visiting Yobe Desert Stars 3-0 in Match day 23 at the Aper Aku Stadium on Sunday.

The Markurdi-based club got their goals through Veteran forward, David Tyavkase, Augustine Ogunye and Cletus Itodo who all find the net despite playing with ten men after Samad Kadiri was sent off in the first half.

Lobi sits on top of the league table with 43 points as the league is set to go on break due to the World Cup which begins June 14.

MFM FC recorded their first away win of the season as they defeated FC IfeanyiUbah 1-0 to bounce back to winning ways following their two-games losing streak.

The Olukoya Boys scored the lone goal in the 59th minute through Balogun Alade as the club continues to chase the league top runners.

Akwa United continued their impressive form in the league as they defeated visiting Niger Tornadoes 2-0 to return to second place in the league.

Paul Obata and Gabriel Wassa both scored for the hosts at the Godswill Akpabio Stadium in Uyo as the Uyo FA Cup champions now have 38 points to overthrow Kano Pillars on the second spot.

Kano Pillars dropped to the third position after they held their hosts Abia Warriors to a 0-0 draw in Umuahia.

Champions Plateau United went down to a 1-O defeat against El-Kanemi Warriors in Maiduguri.

Sunday Anthony netted the winning goal a minute after the hour mark.

Former champions Enugu Rangers lost 1-0 to Katsina United at the Muhammadu Dikko Stadium with Destiny Ashadi scoring the only goal of the game on the half hour mark.

Abdulrahman Bashir, Chinedu Udeagha and Freedom Omofoman were all on target for Enyimba.

Rivers United where held to a goalless draw by relegation threatened Sunshine Stars at the Port Harcourt Stadium.

The draw would go a long way to boost Sunshine’s survival in the league.
