Akwa United head coach Abdul Maikaba, said he is confident his side can overturn the first leg result of their CAF Confederations Cup against Gambian side Banjul Hawks FC.

Akwa United are already in Gambia for their second leg CAF Confederations Cup encounter and its going to be an uphill task overturningthe 2-1 home loss deficit to the Gambians two weeks ago.

Banjul Hawks FC, who won the Gambia Federation Cup in 2017, pulled a shocker in Uyo with first half goals from Muhammed Jallow and Lamin Charty while the “promise keeper” got their consolation goal in the late minutes of the game through Victor Mbaoma to ensure they have something to hold on to into the second leg.

Akwa United goes into the second leg of the game after losing to MFM Fc in their rescheduled match day 8 NPFL game at the Soccer Temple, Agege and Coach Abdul Maikaba will be hoping to charge his boy to put the past behind them if they will want to qualify to the next stage.

Maikaba speaking ahead of the crucial encounter said if his players would keep calm, he believes they will create scoring chances in Banjul and if they could convert the chances they will end up the winning side.

Akwa United qualified as Nigeria representative in the CAF Confederation Cup after winning the Aieto FA Cup last season.
