Reports in Spain indicate that Barcelona have contacted the representatives of Chelsea star, Eden Hazard for a possible move to Camp Nou in the summer.
Barcelona have reportedly made Eden Hazard their number one summer transfer target after their failure to convince Atletico’s Antoine Griezmann to move to the Catalan side.
Don Ballon reports that Chelsea will be tempted to sell the Belgian captain who has been pivotal to the Red Devils’ success at the 2018 FIFA World Cup for €130m.
With the departures of Andres Iniesta to Japanese club Vissel Kobe and Paulinho to Chinese club Guangzhou Evergrande, Barca are focused on strengthening their team in order to challenge for European glory which have landed in the hands of their league rivals Real Madrid in the last three seasons.
The 27-year-old playmaker’s future at Chelsea is hanging in the balance as he would most likely accept a move away from the Stamford Bridge due to their failure to qualify for the 2018/2019 UEFA Champions League and the recent instability in Chelsea’s managerial position.
With Cristiano Ronaldo’s departure to Juventus, Hazard will prefer a move to Real Madrid rather than Barcelona because of his boyhood idol, Zidane, referring to his potential move to the Santiago Bernabeu as a “dream come true”.
When asked about his dream to play for the Los Blancos after Zidane’s departure, he said,
“Zidane is someone special, it’s true, but I think Real is everyone’s dream,
“Zidane or no Zidane, the white jersey is special but the blue jersey [of Chelsea] suits me well so it does not bother me if I stay.
“For now, it’s the World Cup. As I have said at least 100 times, I am at Chelsea and for the moment nobody has made me an offer.”
Hazard still has 2-years left on his Chelsea contract. Any serious interest by Real Madrid could trigger a transfer competition between the two Spanish giants and as such might increase his market value from €130m to €170m or more.
