Swansea lost to Southampton at the Liberty Stadium on Tuesday and with Huddersfield 1-1 stalemate with Chelsea, Swansea will now need to score 10 goals against already relegated Stoke City in their last game of the season to move out of danger.

Carvalhal, 52, has been in charge at the Liberty Stadium since December 28, when he replaced Paul Clement just four days after being sacked by Championship side Sheffield Wednesday.

The club management had been in talks to renew the Portuguese contract, but with the club current position, the deal may not scale through.
