France coach, Didier Deschamps has hailed his players mentality en route to the final of the Russia 2018 World Cup.
The Les Bleus defeated Belgium by a lone goal scored by Samuel Umtiti off an Antoine Griezmann’s corner in the semi-final game at the Saint Petersburg Stadium on Tuesday.
Deschamps who is on the verge of making history as one of a few to win the World Cup both as a player and as a coach, said his players are now more competitive.
“The players are going to be even stronger in two years’ time and in four years’ time but they are already competitive”
“We don’t do everything right but of course there is a progression”
“I’m very proud of them, I’m very proud of their mentality as well because I know it’s not just that you are playing at a high level that you are going to score goals but with our state of mind we can climb mountains and that’s what we’ve done so far.”
The last time France won the World Cup was 20 years ago when they hosted it.
They however got close when they reached the final at Germany 2006 but lost to Italy on penalties.
