Ghana became the first team to crash out of the 2018 FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup following their the 4-0 loss to the Netherlands in their second group game at the Stade de La Rabine Vannes on Wednesday in France.
The Black Princesses’ had lost their first game against France in a ridiculous 4-1 defeat and needed an outright win or a draw to remain in the competition
However, their hope was thrown into the wind as they were bashed 4-0 by debutants, the Netherlands in their second group match.
The African representatives took control of the game in the early minutes but it was the Netherlands who finally broke the deadlock through a 21st-minute goal scored by Nouwen.
The debutants were undone yet as Kalma compounded Ghana’s woes, scoring a brace within the space of four minutes in the 28th and 32nd minutes respectively as the first half ended 3-0.
Pelova would also find her name in the scoresheet in the 8oth minute to complete the routing as Ghana failed to muster the verve needed to stay on in the competition. Their last group game against New Zealand on Sunday will now not change anything as even a win will not be enough to see them through.
