Former Manchester City goalkeeper, Joe Hart will not be going to the Russia 2018 World Cup as his name has been omitted from England’s 23-man squad.
With England manager Gareth Southgate set to announce his squad on Wednesday, Skysports reported that Hart who was England number one in the Euro 2016 Nations Cup was said not to be among the list of players for the Russia 2018 World Cup as a third choice goalkeeper.
The West Ham goalie would now be replaced by Burnley goalkeeper, Nick Pope as Stoke City’s Jack Butland and Everton’s Jordan Pickford would be the first and second choice goalkeepers respectively.
Hart has been England’s first choice goalkeeper before now. He was called up by the former manager, Fabio Capello to be the Three Lions’ first choice goalie in friendly matches against the United States and Trinidad and Tobago in 2008.
He made his debut against Trinidad and Tobago on June 1, 2008, at the Hasely Crawford Stadium, Port of Spain and had gone on to make 75 appearances for England.
