Barcelona’s new signing Arturo Vidal says he wants to help Lionel Messi and has an unfinished business with the UEFA Champions League to attend to at Barça.
Vidal was officially presented as an FC Barcelona player on Monday afternoon, accompanied by the club’s sporting vice president Jordi Mestre and Technical Secretary Èric Abidal at the Camp Nou.
The former Juventus midfielder who came close to lifting the Champions League title in 2015 while speaking in his first press conference said he was very happy to join Barça, which is the best team in the world.
He said, “I want to help the coach to get the side working in the best possible way.
“I hope to help Messi and the team to overcome every challenge”
“I’ve come here to bring a lot of energy into the pitch.
” Joining Barça is a step up for me. I will work hard to bring joy to the FC Barcelona fans, ” the Chilean added.
He further explained that he feels in good shape physically and has had the time necessary to recover from any previous issues. He has already undertaken a month of preseason training sessions with his former club.
Barça Technical Secretary, Eric Abidal described Vidal as a player with character who gives balance on the pitch as well as as providing goals and chances.
The former Bayern Munich midfielder could make his debut Barcelona’s Super Cup clash against Sevilla next weekend in Morocco.
