Ismaily ended Zamalek unbeaten streak in the Egyptian League with an emphatic 3-1 victory on Monday run in the Egyptian Premier League after earning a 3-1 win in the 32nd week of the competition to lead the race for the second spot.
Zamalek had been invincible have won their last seven games and drew one in the league before losing Ismaily.
Mahmoud Metwaly broke the deadlock in the 15th minute when he headed home a cross from Ibrahim Hassan to put the hosts on course.
Nigerian born midfielder, Moruf Yusuf got the equalizer for Zamalek in the 30th minute after a poor clearance from Ismaily defender, Hazen Emma.
Ismaily player, Karim came off the bench to put the team back in front again in the 61st minute before Ibrahim Hassan doubled the lead to put the White Knights to the sword.
With Al Alhy already crowned champions, Zamalek and Ismaily are jostling for the second place to cement their stand in CAF Champions League.
Zamalek with the loss are now placed third on the log with five points behind Ismaily who are now second with 59 points in the Egyptian League.
Zamalek will be up against 13th placed Must El-Makkasa on Sunday while Ismaily trade tackles with Tala’a El Gaish on Sunday.
