President General of the Nigeria Football Supporters Club ( NFSC) Dr Rafiu Ladipo says the Super Eagles will be boosted by the largest turn out of supporters ever witnessed when Nigeria tackle the likes of Croatia, Iceland, and Argentina in their first set of round robin games at the Russia 2018 FIFA World Cup.
Ladipo, a veteran of many World Cups with his group told hotsportstv.com in an exclusive chat on Thursday that they had finalised plans to airlift at least 300 fans to Russia this summer to back the Eagles in their sixth World Cup outing.
The number, he further informed, was expected to rise with a full complement of the Club’s members joining from Europe and elsewhere around the world.
“We are going to the Russia 2018 FIFA World Cup with perhaps our biggest contingent of supporters we have ever taken to the World Cop with over 300 supporters,” Ladipo told hotsportstv.com.
“The idea is to ensure that we do not lack quality support for the Super Eagles at the World Cup .We are aware of the plans our opponents are making to throng the stadium in their numbers to support their teams.
We must not be seen to be left out as that aspect of our game must not be ignored.
Make no mistake about it, the place of adequate support for a team like Super Eagles in crucial games against Croatia, Iceland, and Argentina cannot be over emphasised,” he added.
Ladipo also allayed fears about the club’s ability to finance the trip considering the problems they have had in the past.
“We have an arrangement that will adequately take care of the financial aspects of our trip to Russia. We have started early to fine tune our travel arrangements in order to forestall a repeat of unsavoury incidents of the past”, he assured.
