Making this known in a chat with newsmen at the Bagauda Kaltho press centre in Alausa, Lagos Tuesday, the State’s Sports Commission Chairman, Mr Kweku Adedayo Tandoh said Lagos was expressly given the approval by President Muhammadu Buhari after controversy trailed the plans for a concession to manage the country’s foremost sporting edifice.

But the president’s decision to release the Stadium to Lagos should end agitations by groups initially opposed to the concession idea as Lagos is seen as having the wherewithal to effectively manage the now moribund edifice

The last time the National Stadium, popularly known as the SportsCity was used for a major event was the African Nations Cup co-hosted by Ghana and Nigeria in 2000.
