Sacked Spanish national team coach, Julen Lopetegui arrived Spain on Thursday morning after he was shown the exit door by the Spanish Football Association on Wednesday morning.
Lopetegui was reported to have landed at Barajas airport and immediately left in a black van through the VIP terminal and headed to the Santiago Bernabeu to be presented.
The former FC Porto coach will now have more time to focus on his new job as the coach of Real Madrid.
Lopotegui before boarding the plane from Krasnodar in Russia to Spain, said, “I’m very sad, but wishing Spain play a great World Cup and win. We have a serious team”.
However a statement from Real Madrid website said the 51-year-old will be unveiled Thursday evening.
The statement reads, “Real Madrid C.F. will present Julen Lopetegui as the new first manager today, Thursday 14th June. The event will take place at 7:00pm CEST at the Santiago Bernabeu presidential box”.
