Spanish giants, Real Madrid on Tuesday announced the appointment of current Spanish national team coach, Julen Lopotegui as their new coach.
The Los Blancos have been on the lookout for a replacement to Zinedine Zidane who shocked the club with his impromptu resignation after he guided the team to their third Champions League title in a row.
Madrid had approached Mauricio Pochettino, Antonio Conte and Jurgen Klopp for the vacant seat but opted for Lopotegui who will guide the Spanish national team through the World Cup before taking over in Madrid.
The 51-year old was a player and coach of Real Madrid at the youth level before also coaching the Spanish national team at Under 19, 20 and 21.
His performance while coaching Portugal club, FC Porto endeared Spain to pick him as their coach in 2016 to replace Vincent Del Bosque.
