Nigeria won its first relay medal in Women’s 4x100m at the on-going Commonwealth Games in Gold Coast, Australia, saturday.
The quartet of Blessing Okagbare, Oluwatobiloba Amusan, Isoken Igbinosun and Rosemary Chukwuma ran a third place in a time of 42.75 seconds.
Jamaica, bridged the gap to win the Silver medal in 42.52s as Nigeria settled for Bronze in 42.75s.
The English team won the gold medal in a time of 42.46 seconds.
Meanwhile, the men’s 4x100m team was disqualified after dropping the baton during exchange.
The quartet of Ogho-Oghene Egwero, Usheoritse Itsekiri, Emmanuel Arowolo and Seye Ogunlewe would be left to rue the missed opportunity.
England won the gold with a season-best of 38.13 seconds while South Africa won silver with a national record of 38.24 seconds.
Jamaica took the bronze medal with a season-best of 38.35 seconds.
