Nigeria’s Faith Obazuaye picked silver medal in the final of the women Para- table tennis event at the Commonwealth Games in Gold Coast, Saturday.
Obazuaye had made a clean schedule at the beginning of the tennis event before losing 3-1 to Australia’s Melissa Tapper at the Women’s Para-table tennis final.
She won the first set 11-7 before Tapper dug deep to win the next three sets 11-2, 11-6, and 11-3.
The Para athlete had secured an emphatic 3-0 win in her first and second game over Australia’s Andrea McDonnell , and India’s Vaishnavi Sutar .
She also defeated Canada’s Stephanie Chan in her third game with a 3-0 victory, and England’s Felicity Pickard 3-0 in her semifinal game.
Meanwhile, In Men Table tennis, Aruna Quadri defeated India’s Sharath Achanta 4-0 (12-10, 11-9, 11-9, 11-7) on Saturday.
Aruna will face Singapore’s Ning Gao in the Men’s Singles Gold Medal Match on Sunday.
However, Nigeria is back to ninth place on the medal table with 23 medals, 9 gold, 8 silver and 6 bronze.
