Hapoel Beer Sheva midfielder, John Ogu says he feels honoured and blessed to be considered good enough to be included in Nigeria’s 30- man provisional World Cup list released by coach Gernot Rohr on Monday.
The Eagles star who broke into the team immediately after Nigeria’s third win of the African Nations Cup in the late Stephen Keshi era in 2013, was among the eight midfielders called up by the Franco-German tactician to fight for shirts as he seeks to further prune the list to a final 23 for the Mundial.
Ogu could not hide his joy when tweeted after learning of his inclusion in the list, “” I feel blessed and honoured to be in the 30-man provisional list to the World Cup. I will never take this opportunity and privilege for granted.
“” I’m never going to the camp for fun,”” he said.
Ogu will be riding to camp, euphoric about helping his top Israeli club win a third successive league title last weekend.
He celebrated the unique fortune with Anthony Nwaekeme, another Nigerian who shares the spotlight with him at the club.
