Member of Nigeria’s House of Representatives, Alhaja Ago Omidiran is confident the Super Eagles will make a huge impact at the Russia 2018 World Cup despite a poor run of results in their build-up to the quadrennial showpiece which kicks off in Moscow on Thursday.
The head of the NFF’s Female Football Committee who spoke exclusively to hotsportstv.com said her confidence in the Eagles has not wavered even in the face of heir repeated defeats in tune-up matches meant to assess their state of readiness for the Mundial, insisting that it was not a true reflection of their strengths.
” I have no doubt the Super Eagles will do well at the World Cup. I mean there’s no reason not to. They have had the best of preparations and are highly motivated to deliver. The boys are united and there are no injuries or any form of distractions to give us any form of concern”
” So, the atmosphere is very conducive for a good outing. No one should attach too much importance to the results of their friendlies because nothing was at stake. I mean, it would have been unwise for the players to go all out to win the friendly games, put themselves at the risk of injuries, and get ruled out of the World Cup itself. So, I can say the players only tried to play safely in those games, Nigerians will see the real Eagles when the World Cup starts,” she said.
The Eagles who arrived Russia Monday kick off their campaign at the World Cup with a game against Croatia.
