PSG Ride On Postolachi’s Late Strike To Sink Atletico In Pre-Season Clash

Paris Saint German left it late to terminate Atletico Madrid’s dream of a dramatic comeback from two goals down, after a dying minute winner from Virgiliu Postolachi to win 3-2 in an exciting International Champions Cup  match on Monday.

The first attempt on goal in the game came from Atletico Madrid after a brilliant drive down the left side by Kevin Gameiro who then squared the ball to Angel Correa whose shot was stopped by the foot of goalkeeper Kevin Trapp.

Atletico Madrid came close again after a counter charge by Atletico, initiated by  Thomas Partey and the ball was able to locate the run of Kevin Gameiro whose effort went well over the bar.

The first goal of the game came in the 32nd minute for Paris Saint Germain after an attempt by Layvin Kurzawa was blocked by the arm of Juanfran and the ball fell for Christopher Nkunku who was there to pounce on the rebound to slot in for  the  curtain raiser.

Atletico came close to grabbing an equalizer on the brink of halftime after a poor effort on goal from close range by Luciano Vieto was cleared off the line by Kevin Rumane after it had beaten the goalkeeper..

PSG almost doubled their lead  in the second period after a poor backpass from Francisco Montero;  Youngster- Timothy Weah who came on as a substitute made use of his pace to put pressure on the goalkeeper and get the ball, but for the timely intervention of goalkeeper Antonio Adan who prevented the ball from ending up in the back of the net.

PSG came close again after a superb long range strike from Moussa Diaby richochetted off the top of the crossbar.

PSG finally doubled their lead in the 71st minute as Moussa Diaby finally got a reward for all his effort  as he slotted home a low finish into the far corner  off an assist from Timothy Weah.

Atletico finally pulled one back in the 75th minute after the ball came in from a corner and Trapp was able to save Victor Mollejo’s first effort and he tucked in the rebound.

Atletico finally grabbed an equalizer in the 88th minute after a cross from Juan Moreno took a wicked deflection off PSG’s Antoine Bernede and went in as an own goal.

PSG finally got the winner  in the 92nd minute  when Virgiliu Postolachi   punished a defensive error by  their Span8sh opponents, curling a beautiful effort to leave  goalkeeper Adan stranded.
