Bayern Munich forward, Franck Ribery has signed a one-year contract extension with the club extending his stay at the Allianz Arena till the end of the 2018/2019 season.
The 35-year-old who joined Bayern from Marseille in 2007 has maintained a consistent form with the Bavarians, commanding regular first team appearances and becoming the fifth player to win eight Bundesliga title with Bayern after Oliver Khan, Mehmet Scholl, Phillip Lahm and Bastian Schweinsteiger.
Speaking after putting pen to paper, Ribery said, “I’m very happy to have another year at this club. Munich is my home and has been for a long time, so I’m proud to be able to wear the Bayern shirt again in the new season. So far we’ve had a lot of success together. I hope that next season will be another good one, and hope that we get a bit of luck to win the Champions League.”
Ribery has made 385 competitive appearances for Bayern, registering 117 goals and 179 assists.
The club is also hoping to hand Ribery’s partner in attack, Arjen Robben a contract extension as the Dutchman is reportedly in talks with the club as his contract will be ending this summer.
