Super Falcon’s attacker, Desire Oparanozie has praised the team for its performance in the international friendly against Canada despite the 2-1 defeat to the North Americans rated number 5 in the World.
Oparanozie maintained the Super Falcons have a lot of positive take homes from the friendly encounter noting that “Wasn’t the result we hoped for, but we keep working hard. Lots of positives to take away from this game. We work on 2-1 defeat against Canada,” the attacker tweeted.
Oparanozie opened score for the African champions with a sublime finish in the 27th minute after she was set up by the impressive Uchenna Kanu.
Canada rallied back after the break with goals from Beckie Janine and substitute Sophie Schmidt.
The Falcons last Friday defeated Icelandic women’s topflight side UMF Selfoss 6-1 in their previous friendly encounter.
Thomas Dennerby’s ladies will now focus their attention on the WAFU Women’s tournament in Ivory Coast as they continue their build-up to the 2019 Women’s World Cup in France.
They will face hosts France, Norway and Korea Republic in Group A at the Women’s World Cup in June.
