Football fans believed to be Kano Pillars supporters invaded the Agege stadium on Wednesday after the Northwest derby semi-final of the Aiteo Cup against Katsina United.
The two Northern teams supporters turned out in their large numbers to throw weight behind the clubs who were playing their first ever Aiteo Cup semi-final.
The Mai Su Gida supporters who have been with the team since their Group C games at the Agege stadium created much of the euphoria in the stadium as Pillars took the lead just 13th minute in the first half.
With Nzube scoring again in the 64th minute to double the lead, Pillars fans became louder in the stadium as they lit fireworks in their area.
However, when parity was restored through Timothy and Ajanah, they turned their attention to the referee as they jeered him anytime he awarded a freekick against Pillars and the game went on to a penalty shootout.
Pillars goalkeeper, Obiozo became the hero for Pillars as he saved two penalties to send his club into the final.
The fans wasted no time to climb through the barricades in the stadium and invaded the pitch to meet their hero, Obiozor who they carried shoulder high, and chanting victory songs.
The presence of security agents on the field did nothing to prevent the fans who even went as far as taking selfies with some of the players.
