Super Eagles have been hit with a major injury setback ahead of the Nations Cup qualifier against South Africa at the FNB stadium on November 17 after Spanish Division two club, Elche confirmed that Francis Uzoho suffered a concussion in their 5-1 loss against Cadiz on Sunday.
Uzoho who is currently on a season-long loan from Deportivo La Coruna had earlier kept two clean sheets in his previous games for Elche before the was made to pick the ball five times from his net as Cadiz came from a goal down to win 5-1 at home.
Uzoho who has been Eagles first choice after Carl Ikeme, received a blow while from his opponents while trying to make a save in the game as the club later confirmed through Twitter that he will be out for four weeks.
Elche also in a statement on the club official website said, “Francis Uzoho has undergone today’s radiological tests at the Tesla Clinic that determines that the player has a fracture of the seventh costal arch after the blow suffered yesterday at the Ramón de Carranza Stadium.
He will no longer be available for the crucial game against the Bafana Bafana as Gernot Rohr will now have to seek for other alternatives as Ikechukwu Ezenwa and Daniel Akpeyi are the only goalkeepers left on the list of players for the game that was released last month.
