Africa football governing body, CAF has made changes to the kick-off date for the 2019 Africa Nations Cup to be hosted in Egypt.
The tournament which was earlier scheduled to begin June 15, 2019, has been shifted to June 21 according to a statement on CAF official website on Monday.
This will give room for Muslim countries to rest recover well after the Ramadan fasting and prayer where Muslim abstain from food as this year’s Ramadan will begin May 5 and end on June 4 2019.
The meeting which was attended by CAF president, Ahmad Ahmad also saw CAf announcing Friday, April 12 as the date for the draws.
The statement reads, “On January 26, 2019, at Cairo, Egypt, the Emergency Committee of the Confédération Africaine de Football held a meeting chaired by CAF President Mr Ahmad Ahmad.
After the usual greetings to the members of the Emergency Committee, President Ahmad Ahmad congratulated Mr Hany Abo Rida, President of the Egyptian Football Association, for his appointment as President of the Local Organisation Committee of the Total Africa Cup of Nations, Egypt 2019.

The date for the draw of the AFCON 2019 final tournament. The draw will take place on Friday 12th of April 2019 on a historic place facing the Sphinx and the Pyramids.
“Dates of the AFCON 2019 final tournament: The Total Africa Cup of Nations, Egypt 2019 with its new-24 teams’ format will be held from 21 June to 19 July 2019.
