The People’s Elephant who are the only Nigerian club competing in the continental tournament got the lone goal in the 7th minute as Mustapha beat his marker to slot in the ball inside the net.

The two-time African CAF Champions League winners were however complacent as the visiting Ivorian club threatened on several occasions to level the scores but their effort was not good enough as Enyimba held on for all three points.

Williamsville became the third club from Ivory Coast to play against Enyimba after ASEC Mimosa and Africa Sports in continental competitions.

Enyimba now leads the group with six points from three games and they could be dethroned by Congolese club, CARA who will play against their Malian counterpart, Djouliba in Bamako later on Wednesday.

Enyimba’s next game will be against Williamsville at the Stade Robert Champroux in Abidjan July 29.
