Super Eagles forward, Samuel Kalu’s French club, Bordeaux failed to secure their first Europa League win in their second game as they suffered a 2-1 loss at home to FC Copenhagen.
Bordeaux who has been struggling recently in their league was hoping to pick their first win at Nouveau Stade De Bordeaux but found their effort blown away with another loss.
The hosts dominated possession from the start and were looking to getting an early goal but Kalu was adjudged to be offside after he was played through by his teammate just two minutes into the game.
Another chance came begging in the 18th minute as Kamano found himself in a goal scoring position but his shot was nowhere near the post.
They were made to pay for wasting their efforts as the visitors took the lead three minutes to the breakthrough Pieros Sotiriou as he headed inside the net from a corner kick.
Bordeaux’s chance of equalizing was blown away after Jimmy Briand was brought down in the penalty box, but Francois Kamano failed to convert just minutes before the break.
The second half resumed with Bordeaux looking certain to draw level with the visitors as they got some couple of chances but had to wait until the 84th minute when Younousse Sankharé equalized with a volley from a point-blank range.
Bordeaux thought they had already settled for the share of the spoils Robert Skov gave Copenhagen the lead at the brink of 90 minutes to compound Bordeaux woes.
