Flying Eagles Feast On Mena Of Niger For Poland 2019 Ticket

Nigeria Flying Eagles have booked their ticket to next year FIFA U-20 World Cup in Poland following their 1-0 victory over host, the Junior Mena of the Niger Republic on Friday at the ongoing CAF U-20 tournament.

The Flying Eagles who are seeking for the 8th title in the tournament had defeated Burundi 2-0 in the opening game but were held to a goalless draw by South Africa in the second match and needed a victory or draw to go through to the semi-final.

Both teams went into the game seeking for a win while Niger needing to record their first victory in the tournament and after a first half that ended goalless, Ibrahim Alhassan shattered the Nigerien dream as he got the ball into the host’s net in the 73rd minute to send Nigeria through to the last four of the U-20 AFCON Championship and a ticket to represent Africa at the Poland 2019 U-20 World Cup.

Nigeria have now joined Senegal accompanied by South Africa U-20 team that defeated Burundi 1-0 to finish as runners-up in Group A.
