All Hail King Moses! Nigeria’s Best Footballer

Victor Moses edged out his English Premier League counterpart Wilfred Ndidi to emerge as the best footballer in Nigeria male category at the AITEO/Nigerian Football Federation (NFF) Best Football Awards held in Lagos, Monday night.

Moses edged out Leicester City’s Wilfred Ndidi and Lobi Stars’ Anthony Okpotu to win the award in absentia, Chairman of the League Management Comitee Shehu Dikko received the award on his behalf.

At international level, Moses, also made the 11-man shortlist for Caf’s African Footballer of the Year award, played an influential role in Nigeria’s successful qualification for the 2018 World Cup.

Hotsportstv.com reports that dignitaries at the star studded events were led by FIFA President, Gianni Infantino and his CAF counterpart Ahmad Ahmad, FIFA Executive Secretary, Fatma Samoura, host governor, Akinwunmi Ambode of Lagos State while Delta state governor, Ifeanyi Okowa, led his two predecessors, Emmanuel Uduaghan and James Ibori to the event which also has Francis Peters, the Deputy Managing Director, Aiteo Group in attendance.

Notable Football stars at the award programme led by the legendary Thompson Usiyen include Segun Odegbami, Christian Chukwu, Felix Owolabi, Mutiu Adepoju , Austen Eguavoen and an array of Female footballers led by ex-Falcon Goal Keeper, Ann Chiejine.

Also in attendance were Samson Siasia, Wilson Oruma, Femi Opabunmi, Daniel Amokachi, Uche Okechukwu, Garba Lawal, Austin Okocha, Taribo West, Peter Rufai among others.

Media moguls John Momoh of Channels Television, whose Channels U-13 Football Competition won an award for Developmental Football, won an award and Taye Ige, Chairman HS Media Group were also in attendance alongside about 20 other Football Federation Presidents from all over Africa.
