Mouscron FC of Belgium and 5 consecutive Belgian Division A Team of the Week listee, Nigeria’s Taiwo Awoniyi has expressed readiness to make a difference if invited to the senior national team, the Super Eagles.
Awoniyi, who has scored six goals in seven appearances for the Belgian side, is arguably the hottest Nigerian professional footballer for now, but was not in the list of players invited to the national team for the AFCON qualifier against Seychelles and the international friendly against Egypt, the 21-year-old 2015 U-20 African Cup of Nations winner is confident that he will be able to perform well for the national team.
According to Awoniyi, the Jupiler Pro-league has done a lot in bringing out the best and giving a good experience for him and a good number of other Nigerian players because the experience of the League is a perfect place for young players to show their abilities and get them prepared to play European Football.
Awoniyi has been on loan from English Premiership side, Liverpool at Germany’s FSV Frankfurt, Dutch team, NEC Nijmegen and currently in Royal Excel Mouscronof in the Belgian Jupiler Pro-League. Mouscron currently stands at the 10th position JPL tables and Awoniyi hopes to get more wins and score more goals to get his team to the top.
