FIFA President Gianni Infantino is optimistic the USA, Mexico and Canada will deliver an even greater showpiece than the one witnessed at Russia 2018 in 2026.
The joint bidding from the three countries will host the expanded FIFA World Cup which will have, for the first time, 48 teams competing for the most prestigious football trophy.
Infantino stated this on Tuesday when he honoured American president Donald Trump’s invitation at the White House to discuss the process for the preparation and organization of the 2026 World Cup.
He said, “It was an excellent meeting with the focus on the organisation and preparations for 2026 which the USA will co-host with Canada and Mexico.
“I would like to thank President Trump for his government’s full commitment and support. I am very much looking forward to continuing the cooperation with the US authorities. I am convinced that the three organising countries will deliver the greatest World Cup in eight years’ time,” said the FIFA President after the meeting.
