Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) champions, Lobi Stars have been drawn against Cameroonian League runners-up, USM de Loum in the preliminary round of the 2018-2019 CAF Champions League game.
Lobi Stars were awarded the league title after just 25 games following the suspension of the league after the Russia 2018 World Cup break following leadership tussle between current NFF president, Amaju Pinnick led administration and the Chris Giwa faction which crippled football activities in the country.
With Nigerian club’s slot reduced to just one due to their poor performances in the continental competitions, Lobi Stars will have to redeem the image of th nations football in the continent.
The club in a statement on its official Twitter account wrote, “OFFICIAL: #WeAreLobi will play #Cameroon runners-up, USM de Loum, in the preliminary round of #TotalCAFCL. Reward for victory over the #Cameroonians will be a First Round tie against @OfficialGMFC. #PrideOfBenue.
Also AITEO Cup winner, Rangers International were drawn against Ethiopian club, Defence FC in the preliminary round of the CAF Confederation Cup.
Rangers will host their Ethiopian opponents in the first leg on November 27th in Enugu.
