“Messi Not God, Stop Committing Sacrilege” -Pope Francis Warns Messi’s Fans

The head of the Catholic Church, Pope Francis, who is a football fan, affirmed as to how much he loves abilities and style of play of Barcelona top Scorer and fellow Countryman, Lionel Messi, but also reminded fans of the legend that he is not God and it is sacrilegious to see him as such.

Fans of the 33-year-old Argentine International see him as ‘D10S’ which is coined from his jersey number No.10 and the Spanish translation for God which is Dios for all the footprints which he has made in the history of football.

Pope Francis, on the other hand, feels it improper to refer to mere mortals as God as his fans do.

Pope Francis is a member of Boedo district of Buenos Aires-based Argentine sports club, Atletico San Lorenzo de Almagro, commonly known as San Lorenzo.

The five-time Ballon d’Or winner scored the two goals that gave Barcelona victory over Espanyol on Sunday and is expected to lead Argentina in Copa America 2019 in Brazil and work towards a first senior title with his country.
