Alvaro Morata’s first La Liga game for Atletico Madrid ended in a disappointing 1-0 loss to Real Betis on Sunday.
Morata who joined Atletico from Chelsea on a season-long loan move and was handed a starting berth in his return to his boyhood club.
However, the capital city club failed to get the maximum three points to close up the gap with Barcelona who had drawn their game on Saturday.
Morata who failed to make much impact for Chelsea was thought to bring more attacking options to Diego Simeone who made five changes to his regular starters but the team look compact up front with Pacey wingers Angel Correa and Thomas Lemar partnering Morata and the talismanic Antoine Griezmann up front.
Despite the attacking force Atletico were unable to find the victory leaving Barca to remain top of the table on 50 points after 22 games while Atletico are second with 44 points.
