Former Manchester United manager, Jose Mourinho has thrown his weight behind Zinedine Zidane to excel in his second spell as manager at Real Madrid.
The French tactician returned to the Santiago Bernabeu 10 months after he left the club on his own personal terms.
Mourinho who was fired by Manchester United in December last year was rumoured to be heading back to Real Madrid to salvage the club after lacklustre performance leading to their exit from the Champions League and Copa del Rey, but the club’s management decided in favour of Zidane.
The former treble winner with Inter Millan, while speaking in an interview with Spanish media, El Chiringuito said he believes Zidane made the right choice and will show how good he is.
“I think it’s perfect with the fantastic things he’s done in recent years.
“It’s perfect for me, perfect for Madrid, perfect for him.
“It’s a great opportunity to show how good he is, especially now with a new project. I think he’s great.”
Zidane first game will be at home against Celta Vigo on March 16 with Real trailing league leaders Barca by 12 points.
