It was a horrendous weekend for Super Eagles goalkeeper, Francis Uzoho, as he failed to sustain his clean sheet following Elche 1-5 loss to Cadiz in the Spanish Segunda league.
Uzoho who has been preferred as the first choice for the Super Eagles by Gernot Rohr joined Elche on a season-long loan from Deportivo La Coruna and kept clean sheets in his first two games for the club.
The 20-year old was rewarded with first choice in the post for Elche but was unfortunate to pick the ball from his net five times although he was not entirely to blame for some of the goals.
Elche drew the first blood as Sory Kaba scored just nine minutes in the first half to hand the visitors the lead going to the break
However, Elche was nowhere in the game as the second half resumed giving Cadiz the chance to mount pressure on them as Roberto Correa leveled in the 49th minute before Dejan Lekic completes the comeback in the 62nd minute.
Jose Mari’s penalty kick would extend the lead as Salva Sanchez and Manuel Vallejo also find their names on the scoresheet to complete the routing.
Uzoho is expected to man the post when the Super Eagles travel to South Africa November 17 to play against the Bafana Bafana in a must-win AFCON qualifier at the FNB stadium.
