The Nigeria Women Premier league will on September 12, 2018, make a return to the second round of the 2017/2018, according to the league organisers.
The league organisers have announced that the nation’s women topflight will make a return this month after a mid-season break in May due to the Russia 2018 World Cup and the France U-20 Women’s world cup before the NFF crisis delayed its resumption.
In a statement released by the Chief Operating Officer, Ayo Abdulrahman the three months long break was due to the recently concluded Russia 2018 and 2018 France U-20 Women’s World Cup where both the Eagles and the Falcons failed to soar.
“You will recall that the Nigeria Women Premier League has been on a break due to 2018 World Cup and U20 Women World Cup. Subsequently, those events are over now,” the statement read.
“In view of this development, therefore, we wish to inform you that the second round of the 2017/2018 Nigeria Women Premier League will resume on 12th September 2018.”
Before the break, Ibom Angels and Sunshine Queens were the first round champions, toping group A and B respectively. on the league table.
According to reports, at the end of the season, the two top teams in each of the groups will qualify to compete for the league diadem in a four-team play-off tournament later this year.
