Northern Ireland Humble South Korea 2-1

It was his first match for Norther Ireland, debutant Paul Smyth scored Northern Ireland’s winning goal a 2-1 friendly win over World Cup finalists South Korea.

It was an 85th minute low drive powered by the Glasgow Rangers forward into the bottom corner minutes after coming on as a substitute that gave the home team the win.

Northern Ireland’s Jamie Ward had equalised from a  cross from the right, after a clever Oliver Norwood free-kick, was turned into his own net by Kim Min-jae after Leon Chang-hoon had given the visitors an early lead.

The match was the first of nine for the Micheal O’Neil tutored side and it will form the build-up to the start of the Euro 2020 qualifying campaign in March 2019.
