NPFL Midweek Wrap Up: Kabir Hands MFM First Away Victory As Go Round Stun Pillars

Mountain of Fire and Miracles Football Club (MFM FC) recorded their first away victory in the 2019 Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) in a 0-1 victory against newly promoted Remo Stars in the South Western derby on Wednesday.

The Olukoya Boys who defeated Wikki Tourists by a lone goal on Matchday 6 at the Agege Stadium travelled to Oshogbo with new signing, Adeniji Kabir netting the lone goal in the 13th minute to take MFM FC to top of the Group A summit.

In the other Group A matchday 7 game, Rivers United were held to a goalless draw by visiting Kwara United at the Yakubu Gowon Stadium in Port Harcourt.

In Group B, Fc Ifeanyi Ubah returned to winning ways as they defeated Gombe United 2-0 at Nnewi courtesy of two second-half goals from Ikenna Cooper in the 73rd minute and Nonso Nzediegwu in the added time.

The result takes them to the top of Group B summit with Heartland failing to cut the gap as they lost by a lone goal to Abia Warriors at the Umuahia Township Stadium through a Samson Obi’s 25th-minute goal.

Go Round FC stunned Kano Pillars 2-1 at the Chrisdera Stadium in Omoku to climb up to fourth on the table. Akaba Otega fired the home team in front 33 minutes of the first half before veteran, Rabiu Ali levelled matter for Pillars in the added minutes of the first half. Adeseun Adelani went on to restore Go Round lead in the 51st minute to hand the Omoku-based team the maximum three points.

Newly promoted Kada FC defeated visiting El-Kanemi Warriors 2-1 in Kaduna to move out of the bottom spot in Group B.

Five games have been scheduled for Thursday, February 7 on Matchday 7 with Niger Tornadoes hosting Sunshine Stars as newly promoted Bendel Insurance continues their journey in search for their first league victory in Katsina.

Enyimba will travel to Bauchi to trade tackles with Wikki Tourists. Nasaraw United welcomes Plateau United to Lafia while Akwa United will be hoping to get another victory against Yobe Desert Stars in Damaturu.
