Bayelsa State Governor Henry Seriake Dickson has splashed N22m to the State women club, Bayelsa Queens for winning the Nigeria Professional Women League Super Four title.
Bayelsa Queens defeated champions Nasarawa Amazon 2-0 in the final of the 3-day tournament held at the Agege Stadium in Lagos to end their 11 years wait for the title.
Gov. Dickson while welcoming the victorious team home in Yenagoa on a day that coincided with his birthday, was full of praise for the ladies for making the state proud.
He said, ” Our Bayelsa Queens is the best, they went to Lagos and Conquered Nigeria.
Prior to the final match against Nasarawa Amazons, Moses Aduku, the coach of Bayelsa Queens had promised to deliver the trophy as a gift to the Governor.
” It will not be out of place to win against Nasarawa Amazons and present the trophy as a birthday gift to the Governor whose birthday is on the 28th of January, ” he told the newsmen.
