Onuwa’s Late Strike Sends MFM FC To Lagos FA Cup Semis

Mountain of Fire and Miracles Ministries Football Club, midfielder, Chukwuka Onuwa’s late strike gave the club a slim 3-2 win over G12 FC in the Lagos State FA Cup quarter-final match at the Teslim Balogun Stadium.

The Lagos State FA Cup defending champions went into the game on a revenge mission against G12 FC who defeated their feeders team 3-2 in the fifth round of the tournament as Lawal Abayomi got the opener just two minutes into the game from Chukwuka Onuwa’s pass.

The Olukoya Boys would then blow away their lead as G12 got an equalizer in the 24th minute through Nuru Omoyegun who diverted a free kick to beat MFM FC goalkeeper Nasamu Emmanuel.

G12 completed their comeback in the 33rd minute with Omowale Emmanuel firing inside the net to give his team the lead and pile pressure on MFM FC as the first half ended 2-1.

The Second half resumed with the Olukoya Boys trailing while G12 became more defensive with their one-goal lead. Fidelis Ilechukwu lads would level scores through Balogun Alade as Onuwa again provided the assist in the 63rd minute.

Onuwa would then go ahead to complete his man of the match performance with the winner as he was played through by Lawal Abayomi before slotting in the ball inside the net in the 84th minute to send MFM FC to the semi-final.
