Paris Saint-Germain have finally ended their winless jinx against Liverpool in European competition following a 2-1 Victory on Wednesday at the Parc Des Princes.
Both teams have previously met four times before Wednesday night crucial Group C with Liverpool defeating the Parisians in all four games.
The Reds had intended to at least get a draw to stand a chance of booking a place in the round of 16 with a game to spare but goals from Juan Bernat and Neymar moved PSG into a qualifying position.
Had PSG lost to Liverpool on the night then they would have been out of contention.
With Napoli, having defeated Red Star Belgrade 3-1, the heat is on Liverpool, who have now lost all their three Champions League away games in the group stage for the first time.
Liverpool however, gave themselves hope on the stroke of half-time as they scored with their first attempt on target (45+2′) when James Milner tucked beyond the goalkeeper the penalty awarded when Di Maria jumped in on Sadio Mané at the edge of the box.
The game also saw Brazilian superstar, Neymar becomes the top-scoring Brazilian player in Champions League history, overtaking Kaká who scored 30 goals in the competition.
