Rampaging Yobe Dessert Stars’ Fans Attack Akwa United

Another tragedy hit the Nigerian Professional Football League as irate fans of Yobe Desert Stars’ on Thursday vandalized Akwa United team bus in Damaturu.
The incidence is the third recorded case of violence in the 7 weeks old NPFL with previous cases involving Remo Stars’ fans in their match against Bendel Insurance and Plateau United fans in their game against Kano Pillars.
Akwa United travelled to the Yobe State capital and defeated Yobe Stars 0-1 in the NPFL matchday 7 fixture courtesy of a 29th-minute goal scored by Mfon Udoh.
The home team despite trying to share the spoils with the visitors failed to hit the net as the game ended 1-0.
The supporters began to throw objects into the pitch as both teams including the officials find it difficult leaving the pitch.
Security agents at the stadium in a move to curtail the situation fired tear gas on the fans and after Akwa United bus was damaged.
The club confirmed the incident on their official twitter handle, “Our team bus has been vandalized by angry Yobe Stars fans after our 0-1 victory against their team in Damaturu.”
The League Management Company (LMC) is yet to respond to the incident.
