Rangers Suffer First Confed Cup Defeat Against Etoile Du Sahel

Rangers International Football Club on suffered their first loss in the CAF Confederation Cup this season following a 2-1 loss to Tunisian club Etoile Sportive du Sahel at the Stade Olympique de Sousse in Tunisia on Sunday night.

The Flying Antelopes have gone unbeaten since the qualifier stage of the CAF Confederation Cup and had earlier played C.S Sfaxien to a draw in their second group game but failed to pick another point on the road against Etoile.

The 2018 Aiteo Cup winners took the game to their hosts as Bright Silas opened scoring just 15 minutes of the first half after he nicely connected a pass from Michael Uchebo.

However, the hosts responded back through Mohamed Muskini who levelled in the 31st minute to take the game to a 1-1 stalemate in the first half.

Rangers failed to hold on to the pressure from the Maghrebian club as Ben Azizza completed the comeback for Etoile in the 64th minute to give his club the vital win and move to third place in the Group B.

The loss now sees Rangers occupy the second place after three games with one win, a draw and a loss and will be hoping to have their own pound of flesh when they host Etoile Du Sahel on March 3 at the Nnamdi Azikiwe Stadium in Enugu.
