Nigeria Premier League clubs have begun preparations for next season with nine teams including CAF Champions League flagbearers, Lobi Stars set to battle for the 6th edition of the Gold Cup pre-season tournament.
The Gold Cup is a mini league played by ten teams as preparations to the new season and AITEO Cup finalist, Kano Pillars, alongside Kwara United, Rivers United, Sunshine Stars, MFM FC and Lobi Stars are the top premier league to play while the other clubs are Phoenix, Remo Stars, Cynosure FC and FC Ebedei
A statement on NPFL website said the General Coordinator of Gold Cup Tourney, Tunde Shamsudeen revealed the tourney draw was conducted last weekend.
Kano Pillars who are defending champions are drawn in Group A alongside two debutants Phoenix and Cynosure FC. Kwara United and Remo Stars make up the five teams.
Lobi Stars and Mountain of Fire and Miracles Ministries (MFM) FC who were crowned champions and runners-up in 2016 respectively, will have their hands full against Sunshine Stars, FC Ebedei and Rivers United.
The tournament will be held at Ado Ekiti, capital of Ekiti State from Thursday, November 15 to Saturday, November 24, 2018.
