William Troost-Ekong rallied his Super Eagles teammates Wednesday when he announced that they were in good shape to engage Poland on Friday in one of two scheduled international friendlies to prepare the team for the Russia 2018 World Cup.
Ekong, fresh from an exciting weekend where he helped Turkish Super League side, Bursaspor pick a vital win over better placed opponents, Sivasspor, was first among a crop of dedicated players who arrived the Wraclow camp of the Eagles on Monday to begin the build up for the all-important tune up game against the Poles. After taking part in series of work outs with teammates in the team’s hotel gym, Ekong who is one of Gernot Rohr’s most trusted legs in the current Eagles team told everyone who cared to listen that the Eagles were ready for their game against Robert Lewandowski and his Polish teammates on Friday.
Ekong posted a photograph of himself and teammates in various stages of their training as well as himself wearing a newly launched pair of the Nike designed Jersey on twitter, with a the statement, “Preparations for our games against Poland and Serbia have begun. #Soar Super Eagles”.
Barring any untoward circumstances, the Turkey- based defender will be expected to pair Mainz of Germany’s Leon Balogun as Nigeria officially kick starts her preparations for a 6th World Cup outing at Russia 2018.
