UEFA has opened a disciplinary proceeding against Tottenham Hotspur of England and Ajax of Amsterdam following allegations of improper conduct by their fans during their Champions League quarter-finals first leg matches played on Tuesday and Wednesday respectively.
Tottenham first Champions League game at their new Stadium ended with a 1-0 victory against Manchester City while Ajax played a 1-1 draw with Juventus.
A statement on the UEFA website said the charges against Ajax includes, throwing of objects, crowd disturbance and stairways blocked by the home supporters which all contravened UEFA Disciplinary Regulations.
The charges against Tottenham was the invasion of pitch by their supporters after the final whistle on what was their first Champions League game at Tottenham’s new Stadium.
The statement further revealed that the case will be dealt with by the UEFA Control, Ethics and Disciplinary Body on May 16.
