MFM FC coach Fidelis Illechukwu commended his players for a well-deserved victory over Rangers International at the Agege Stadium on Wednesday.
The Olukoya Boys put up an impressive performance to beat Rangers who were playing their first league game this season due to their participation in the CAF Confederations Cup.
A lone goal in the second half scored by Adeniji Kabiru who was handed a starting shirt after his off the bench goal in their 2-0 victory against Kwara United on Matchday 2 was what the home team needed to send Rangers back to Enugu empty-handed.
Ilechukwu while speaking in a post-match interview applauded his players for defeating the continental club side to pick a second home victory.
“I am glad my boys fought hard to get this victory against Rangers who are one of the best team in the league.
“The players proved their mettle and the most important thing is that we got the three points.
Asked how he was able to inspire his players in the dressing room before the second half, Ilechukwu said, ” Unlike the game against Kwara United when I had to put them under pressure in the dressing room, “I just told them to return to the pitch and do the needful and that was exactly what they did and you can see again it was the second half we got the goal.
On their next game against Rivers United, he said, the victory against Rangers will be a morale booster to his team saying he is confident his team are capable of causing an upset in Port Harcourt.
