Reports in England indicate that Manchester United are willing to cast aside the controversial Mourinho for 3-time Champions League-winning coach, Zinedine Zidane.
Mourinho’s recent media comment has unsettled the club’s players and management, having lashed out at the Club board for refusing to sign the players he demanded.
The Portuguese manager had a media outburst after their 1-4 loss to Liverpool in Michigan on Saturday. He particularly criticized the team’s young players saying “The atmosphere was good but if I was them I wouldn’t have come.
‘This is not our team, not our squad. The majority of players that have played are not going to play. Some of them are not even going to belong to the squad. The accumulation of matches is killing progressively my brave boys because I have some brave boys.
‘Reinforcements, you are saying players I’d like to buy and add to the squad. That is another thing, but this is not even 30 per cent of my squad, so don’t look at this that way.
‘We have four or five players that are here because they care for the club, for the team, they try to give everything, even risking themselves because they don’t want to let all the kids play by themselves against AC Milan, Liverpool and Real Madrid. They don’t want to do that.’ He said.
He also laid blame on the 22-year-old want out winger, Anthony Martial for refusing to return to the team a week after camp for the birth of his child “‘Anthony Martial, he had the baby, and after the baby was born – beautiful baby, full of health, thank god – he should be here and he’s not here.”
The former Chelsea gaffer seems to have blamed everyone but himself for every challenge the club had encountered since his appointment in 2016. Mourinho left Chelsea in his second stint as the club manager in December 2015 after a series of disappointing results.
Analyst predicts that Mourinho’s relationship with the hierarchy at Old Trafford will continue to deteriorate until the management finally makes a decisive decision on his stay at the Theatre of Dreams.
Mourinho, in his managerial career, has never spent more than 3 years at a club. As he either tends to leave or get sacked due to bad relations with his employers.
Zidane is being tipped to replace Mourinho at Old Trafford, having resigned from Real Madrid after three successful European campaign.
Bookmakers are predicting that the 55-year-old manager will be one of the first managers to get sacked ahead of the new Premier League season scheduled to start on August 10.
Jose Mourinho has only won 2-major silverware, i.e. The EFL (Carabao Cup) and the UEFA Europa League since his arrival to Old Trafford in 2016. Manchester United came second behind city rivals, Manchester City and were trophyless at the 2017/2018 season.
